CALDWELL — Police were called to the intersection of Laster and E. Cleveland Boulevard in Caldwell Friday morning for a report of a vehicle that had struck and was inside an insurance business.

Caldwell Police arrived at the scene to find a silver Ford Focus completely inside the American Family Insurance office at 6115 E. Cleveland Blvd., Suite A shortly after 7:30 a.m.

Police said Carlos Velazquez, 20, Nampa, was traveling westbound on Cleveland when he tried to change lanes and lost control of his vehicle. Velazquez left the roadway, struck a stop sign, went over the landscaping and into the parking lot before his vehicle came to a rest inside the American Family Insurance building, police said.

No one was in the building at the time of the crash, and Velazquez was not hurt. Velazquez was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash and the investigation is complete, police said.

The damage to the building is estimated to be $50,000.
