NAMPA — Whether a religious Nampa landmark seen by thousands each day returns could depend on donations to an evangelical organization.
The electronic billboard that posts Bible excerpts went dark about a month ago because of a mechanical malfunction.
The sign on Interstate 84 between Garrity and Franklin boulevards has stood since 1984, Highway Evangelism President Ron Vieselmeyer said. An upgrade to the broken billboard would cost Highway Evangelism, which maintains three signs in Idaho, $108,000.
“We're not even close to” that much money on hand, Vieselmeyer said. “But we're doing everything we can to try and raise some money. We're talking to some other sign companies as well. Our board thought it would be a good idea to get some bids.”
