CALDWELL — Canyon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Arin Nesbitt, 50, of Emmett, on charges of grand theft by embezzlement, computer fraud and 15 counts of forgery.

The arrest occurred Friday.

The charges are the result of a two-month investigation of alleged misconduct from when Nesbitt worked as a bookkeeper for Southwest Idaho Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D).

According to the Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement received a report from RC&D in August 2013 alleging Nesbitt that was writing unauthorized checks, forging signatures and depositing checks into her personal bank account. The report also alleges she used a company computer to assist in the theft and concealed it by altering accounting records.

The report stated the transactions occurred over three years, beginning in 2010.

The Canyon County Prosecutor’s Office filed a formal criminal complaint on Jan. 9, and an arrest warrant was issued for Nesbitt.
