BOISE – The Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale is looking for experienced singers to join its expanding membership. The  goal is to expand the membership of the Master Chorale to 150 voices this year. Historically, the chorale has drawn a number of singers from Canyon County.

Auditions will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 14 to 16 at the Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy, 516 S. 9th St., Boise.

The Chorale is looking for talented and experienced singers in all sections: soprano, alto, bass and tenor. Those wishing to audition are asked to bring a prepared solo to sing (piano accompanist will be provided). Singers will be tested for good tone, pitch, diction, rhythm, and music-reading skills.

To schedule an audition, call (208) 344-4794 or email bmcjoanne@gmail.com.

Originally founded in 1975, the Boise Master Chorale has brought high quality classical choral works to Boise since the inaugural performance of Handel’s Messiah. The Chorale recently merged with the Boise Philharmonic to become the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale. Through collaboration with Maestro Robert Franz, Dr. James Jirak continues to lead the Chorale as Artistic Director. Repertoire for the 2012-2013 season includes the Bach Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, and the Rachmaninoff Vespers.
