Dearest Readers: For all the important things in your life ... if it’s important to you, it’s important to us.
We’ve seen it before, and actually not all that long ago. Students who are serious about their education, take their most recent term-end report card into any Zions Bank location and Voila! They’re registered in the Zions Pays for “A’s” program — the one that offers cash incentives for good grades.
Open to all Idaho and Utah students 7th to 12th grade, ages 13 to 18, the program guarantees teens $1 for every “A” on their report card, which is then deposited into their Teengreen savings account. Or they can opt for cash and receive 50 cents for each “A” they’ve produced!
With each “A,” they also receive an automatic entry into one of 152 annual drawings for scholarship prizes. And that’s exactly what happened to Michaela Johnson, a 7th grader at Victory Charter School you see pictured today.
Michaela not only received $1 for every “A” on her report card, it was also her luck to have her name drawn in the Canyon County-area drawing, which then awarded her a $100 scholarship savings account!
Zions Bank’s Nampa branch manager Victor Barrera and Victory Charter School principal, Dr. Marianne Saunders, surprised Michaela with the scholarship at a school presentation on March 3.
“We at Zions Bank are thrilled to offer cash rewards to teens with ‘A’s,’” Barrera said. “It’s a great way for us to recognize students like Michaela who excel in their studies.”
… And have them profit from them as well!
Rumor has it that the freshman boy’s basketball team (pictured) from the Columbia High School did it! They won the 4A SIC District 3 Championship on Feb. 17.
And no wonder … what with a 14 win and one loss season!
Needless to say that Coach Bill Ryan did a super-duper job with the boys. … Also needless to say that parents, siblings and fans are all very proud of them!
