As the Big East prepares to lose West Virginia to the Big 12 next season, it apparently wants Boise State to join earlier than expected to offset the loss.

San Jose Mercury News report Jon Wilner said on his Twitter account "Source: Boise State under pressure from Big East to join in '12 to offset WVU departure. AF likely to join Navy in BE; question is when."

Boise State president Bob Kustra said in December he expected West Virginia to be out of the league by 2013, and that Boise State was always prepared to join that year. To join in 2012 would have cost at least $5 million. Perhaps now the Big East will help offset some of that cost? Stay tuned.
