Greetings from the press box at Twin Falls High School. Actually, greetings from the top of the press box and Twin Falls High School.

There wasn't enough room in the press box for me to set up, so they found room up where the teams film the game. I could be wrong, but I think we're breaking new ground here.

Just wanted to pass along a couple of stories from the Times-News in Twin Falls on opponents of local teams in this weekend's state quarterfinals.

If the Parma volleyball team makes it to the state tournament next year, they won't be the two-time defending champions of the tournament they are playing in.

The Nampa Christian volleyball team advanced to today's 2A state championship game with a 20-25, 27-25, 18-25, 25-17, 15-12 win against Parma earlier today. The Trojans will play either Parma, Soda Springs, or Butte County, all teams Nampa Christian has already beaten in the double-elimination tournament.

The Middleton football team will get a chance to avenge one of its two losses next weekend when the Vikings (7-2) travel to Sandpoint (7-2) for a first round game.

Back in week two, the Vikings suffered their first loss of the season, falling to the Bulldogs 36-14.

If you look at this week's high school media polls, you'll notice that both Nampa and Middleton have returned to the top 5 in the 4A. Both teams are tied at No. 5 this week, with four votes apiece. Along with Bishop Kelly, which is ranked at No. 3, that makes three teams from the 4A SIC who are currently ranked.

For some football teams in the area, the regular season ends this Friday. It's the last week of games for the 5A SIC, before it has its district playoffs next week. 3A and 2A teams also play their last games before next weekend's play-in games.

Michael Gordon, of Kuna, and Sora Klopfenstein, of Meridian, were the individual winners at today's West Park Open, held at West Park in Nampa.

Meridian swept both the team titles at the event, as the Warrior girls beat out Emmett and the boys beat out Rocky Mountain.
