Well, I'd heard that Canyon County was an option to host the Chicago-based American rock band this summer, but the Eagle/Star area isn't far off. Wilco, a Grammy winning band and critical darling, will stop in at the Winery at Eagle Knoll on April 20.

The show is part of the Vintage '08 Summer Concert Series, presented by the Record Exchange and brought to you by Idaho Concerts, which also includes concerts by Steve Earle on  July 11 (guest Allison Moorer) and Neko Case on April 29.

Tickets for Wilco cost $28 and will go on sale May 30 through the Record Exchange, Boise Co-op, the Egyptian box office or by calling 387-1273 or 345-0454 (to leave a message).

This is going to be one great series of music that proves an amazing alternative — or addition — to the Outlaw Concert Series being staged at the Idaho Botanical Gardens this summer that boasts shows by LeAnn Rimes, Bob Weir & Ratdog and Gov't Mule, Lyle Lovett and Randy Travis.

Last year, Wilco, led by Jeff Tweedy of Uncle Tupelo fame, released "Sky Blue Sky," one of my picks for the best albums of 2007.
