Cori asked a great question on my Facebook page. I wanted everyone to see the answer, so I've posted it here on my blog:

The question was: "Hi, Kori! Its Cori..... I was wondering if you can explain to me how you get Knorr rice/pastas for 17cents at Albi's? I can't figure it out and I have 4 of the $1 off three coupons....... Thanks a bunch ;)"

First some basic facts:

The Knorr Sides are advertised at $0.99 each.

They are included in the General Mill's Promotion that gives a $15 Catalina when $30 worth or included items are purchased.

Technically, you'll have to buy 31 Knorr Sides (because that would bring you to $30.69 and make you eligible for the Catalina.)

Here is the fancy math part:

  • Purchase 31 Knorr Sides to be eligible for the $15 Catalina because that would bring you to $30.69.
  • Deduct that $15 Catalina from the total ($30.69 - $15.00 = $15.69)
  • Deduct any coupons you my have. I have found two Knorr Side internet coupons (links are listed below) that
  • both offer $1.00 off three sides.
  • This is where the math can get a little fuzzy for me. You can only legally print internet coupons twice usually for each site. So, that should probably be 4 coupons. That would give you $4.00 off 12 Knorr sides.
  • This would give you a total of $11.69, which makes those Knorr Sides cost only $0.39 per box.
  • So, to maximize your savings, you can see if friends would print you the coupons...you'll need 10 internet coupons to save the maximum you can here. This would give you total of $5.69. ($30.69 subtotal - $15.00 Catalina - $10 coupons = $5.69). $5.69 divided by 31 still gives me $0.18 per box. OR
  • Find other items to complete your required $30 to earn the $15 Catalina. I'm guessing this is where the $0.17 price shows up.

No wonder there is confusion about the Catalinas and WYB sales. I hope that has clarified a bit. Please post your questions, and we'll try to make sense of this for everyone.

Print an internet coupon for $1.00 off 3 Knorr Sides here or here. Print them both twice.
