Today's blog post certainly seems to reflect my blog title..."Don't Get Me Started!" I am so tired of hearing that the new Nampa Charter School intends to teach the Bible. They have clearly stated over and over they will in no way be using the Bible to teach doctrine, and that it will simply be used as a reference text. Why don't television and radio personalities understand this

Maybe I am still sensitive because of the misrepresentation of the Stockdale family and Omnipure situation, but it seems that so called "news" reporters have all but left the news behind. It is all about jumping on, no matter what they may be talking about. (Again I have to add I am speaking of TV and radio.) Yesterday, in my car, during a newsbreak on the radio I heard "You can weigh in on whether you think the Nampa Charter School should be teaching the Bible." Ugh!

It saddens me that the simple mention of the Bible, and people go crazy. The new school attempted to do everything right by informing the public of the intention to use the Bible as a reference manual. It has also been stated that they are not the only charter school doing this, there are other schools in the area that use the Bible in this manner. Why has this administration been so attacked?

I hope they stand their ground against this wave of controversy and continue with the educational plans they had originally designed. The Bible is a book that has withstood centuries and no one can say it is not worthy of review, be it as a Christian, or a student seeking an education. For a good curriculum to avoid such a book because of politics would be unfortunate. And for all the people who keep saying, "How would you feel if they were using the Koran?" Well, there are public schools across our nation that do...so enough with that argument.

I just want people in general to get it straight, including newscasters, and stop saying they will be studying the Bible. There is a huge difference between what he is saying they intend to do, and what is being tossed around in every day conversations.

All of these comments are a reflection of what we reasonable, thinking people are concerned about. I am certain they will not understand what I'm saying, but those who feel as I do will get it. We should use "Lonesome Dove" as a reference tool too. It teaches work ethic, business, ambition, empathy and the goodness and evilness of the human race.

Thank you for a well writen and correct usage of our language. NCA is not teaching the Bible and the media including the Idaho Press Tribrune keep making stories just to keep the issue going.

Finally! Someone with common sense in education! I had given up on educators teaching children rather than indoctrinating them. I will pray this gentleman succeeds in this endeavor!

Dear Mark, I live in New Jersey but am originally from North Carolina. I do not like New Jersey for several reasons, would prefer to be in New York (crazy for the arts; not the Socialism), or move back to a family town where 'comfort of religion' is not a threat to us, as Americans. You are right on every account. Being up North has taught me to appreciate America so much more than I thought possible, plus, thanks to my Father. I try to teach my child all of the true history. When things are taught to him at his school, I go over the history that he has learned in school and I have taught him that "history has two different sides"! History has been rewritten for years to supress the truth. My brother is so more intelligent than I am, and he has found mistakes in my neices books 6 years ago that were not correct. Let us as 'Americans' MOVE ON! We should not hate each other, but fight together against the 'enemy'! Proverty, crime, suffering of children will be a part of our lives, but we should start with 'America' first! Our healthcare is the 'greatest'; why change?

Why do let we let Muslim children in Charter, Public, etc. schools to go to their own Country such as the Mid-East, Indonesia, etc. to attend their own schools, missing a month or more of the start of the school here and are allowed to 'make up' what they have missed? And, the Americans, allowing 'one person' to change prayer in our schools years ago? Chaso has happened during those years until now. And we can't say 'a prayer'? What's next? The Pledge of Allegiance? Our Constitution seems to be as risk?

I right from Michigan. I hope and pray that the forces of Freedom and Common Sense prevail in this matter, and the the ACLU and their slimy ilk are both repelled and sent scurrying with regard to this matter. We shall not be their slaves, or fall prey to their Anti-Godlessness. A charter school may teach as they will, and parents and their children are not property of the State. Also, you'd think that anyone professing the desire to fully educate children would DEMAND

Separation Church State does not appear in the U.S. constitution. The Founders, for intelligent reasons, started Bible tract societies that exist to this day. The Bible was the book of choice for the reader in schools until more recent times. Dr. Benjamin Rush, one of the youngest signers of The Declaration of Independence did many studies of why the Bible should be used in schools. For an education, though I would not need to single him out amongst the signers, do a Google search and read his works on the subject. In 1782 Congress approved the Aiken Bible for printing and use in schools. An American version was necessary in that England had obstructed the import of English Bibles.

This is another example of how secular and anti-religion our country has become. At a recent City Council meeting which is always started with prayer a woman began ranting about how she had to listen to multiple references to Jesus. This was in Chesapeake Va by the way.

Hang in there, the ACLU is on my list as one of the major cabals killing biblical truths. No education is complete without Bible teachings. The Bible is the starting point for teaching American principles.Lose the Bible and G-D and doom any society. Biblical history is the most accurate depiction of past and future events.
