I'm in shape. Round is a shape... isn't it? ~Author Unknown

It happens. Comfort food is satisfying while you are indulging, that is, until you later realize the comfort ended up somewhere around your middle, and has caused your favorite jeans to go through a shrinking process. I have two poisons; a Root Beer Float, and Iceberg's Onion Rings. I never mix the two as that could be quite dangerous when trying to slip into my summer shorts, but, I do make sure to live a little every now and then and add a little comfort to my life.

Tonight, without regret, I indulged an icy cold Root Beer Float. I allow myself one drive-thru a month, but when the time comes, I go big. I stick to my routine and to self-discipline throughout the month, and have become somewhat of a control freak when it comes to dining in luxury. You see, I had my second baby almost three years ago, and I STILL have 12 pounds to lose before reaching my pre-baby-weight. It has not been fun, but, I have made it important (a priority) to give to myself to be able to control the urge to splurge and keep myself away from feeling the horrible effects of falling behind on my weight loss trail. Just because we have weight to lose does not mean we are dead, or that we should deprive ourselves of living outside the comfort food box. It never hurts to give or live a little.

You know "those people", those who (my husband included) can eat, and eat, and eat, and NEVER gain a pound? Where does it go, and why did I not get that brilliant string of luck? Or "those people" that do not have a care in the world about what they indulge in because a hard workout will make it all disappear and turn into perfectly sculpted legs. Well, I guess we can't all be so lucky. Some of us have to work really hard at keeping the weight off, literally running away from anything that spells BIG calories, while not getting close to getting our "junk food on" whenever we feel like it.

Believe me, if I had "the luck", there is no telling what havoc I would wreak...because a Root Beer Float and Onion Rings are only lightly covering my vast comfort zone. To delight in comfort ever-so-often makes all the hard work worth it. And, it's easier to get to the goal you are working at achieving when living a little.

Now, spell stressed backwards.
