Communist agenda makes its way to our mainstream

By Curtis Bowers

The start of a new year is always a time of reflection as we learn from the past and prepare for the future. An unusual opportunity I had years ago is especially significant today, in light of the many issues facing Americans.

In 1992 I read that the Communist Party USA was gathering at the University of California, Berkeley. I was curious to see what they had to say about the Berlin Wall coming down and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Would they give up, or did they have a different approach? I decided to go and find out.

I assumed it would be a bunch of radical college students, so to fit the part, I grew a goatee, got a revolutionary T-shirt and put on some ratty jeans. After getting checked into my dorm room on campus, I went over to the conference hall for the first meeting. I was amazed to see a room filled with 50-, 60- and 70-year-old men and women, professionally dressed with their briefcases.

For the next several days I listened, took notes and talked to the leadership. The plan they unfolded had nothing to do with guns, bombs or violence. They acknowledged their disappointment with what had happened in the Soviet Union but felt they could still “take America down.” This time, instead of using force from the outside, they would use public policy from the inside.

They had a three part agenda. They would use their manpower, influence and funds to back anything that would destroy our families, businesses and culture.

Firstly, to destroy the family, they would promote co-habitation instead of marriage. They would also try to get children away from their mothers into government programs at the earliest age possible. They felt the best way to do this was to promote the feminist movement, which had been very effective at making women discontent with marriage and motherhood.

Secondly, to destroy businesses, they aimed to wipe out the profit potential that motivated people to start them. If people couldn’t make good money off their ideas and hard work, they would eventually be content working for someone else. They were sure the environmental movement (modest at the time) was the only vehicle capable of creating enough regulation and expense to discourage business growth.

Finally, to destroy our culture, they needed us to abandon our heritage of religion and morality. They believed the homosexual movement, if accepted, would begin to effectively extinguish these values.

At the time they laid out this strategy, I wasn’t overly impressed. It seemed very unrealistic and certainly not something to worry about in my lifetime. Yet as I sit in my office, recall their plan and consider where America is today, I am shocked.

Our first woman presidential candidate talks about how degrading it is to be a stay-at-home mom. Businesses are closing down or moving daily to other countries because environmental regulations are too excessive to make a profit. And legislation is being considered in Washington, D.C. that makes it a crime to discuss in public any opposition to the homosexual lifestyle. As the old advertisement said, “You’ve come a long way, baby!”

When we see many mainstream politicians and activist judges with the same agenda that just 16 years ago was that of Communist strategists, it is time for patriotic Americans to wake up and get involved.

— Curtis Bowers is an Idaho representative from District 10.

Comments:

Mr. Bowers unfortunately has his facts straight. There is substantial documentation of communist strategies for America dating back to the Bolshevik revolution in Russia. Cultural Marxism is a term derived from the Frankfurt School of political strategy. This group was originally comprised of Bolsheviks who advocated for defeating the West through subversion rather than the more direct methods advocated by Stalin. Their goal was to make American culture "so corrupt it stinks." The leading thinkers from this school were brought to the United States in the 1930s by Edward R. Murrow, who at the time was Assistant Secretary of the Committee in Aid of Displaced German Scholars. Murrow would later become a world famous CBS broadcaster. The Frankfurt School promoted the following ideas as their strategy for undermining American culture as a prerequisite for introducing communism: 1. The creation of racism offences. 2. Continual change to create confusion 3. The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children 4. The undermining of schools’ and teachers’ authority 5. Huge immigration to destroy identity. 6. The promotion of excessive drinking 7. Emptying of churches 8. An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime 9. Dependency on the state or state benefits 10. Control and dumbing down of media 11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family Later on Columbia sociologists Cloward and Piven developed a strategy for manufactured crisis that relied on flooding government with demands for various kinds of Welfare. This strategy was elucidated in the May 2, 1966 issue of Nation Magazine. These professors were also behind the creation of ACORN and the Motor Voter law, among other things. Their strategy laid the grounds for today's mortgage market crisis. There is much more evidence. These are not the hysterical rantings of some conspiracy theorist. These are historical facts, easily checked by anyone with a genuine interest. The ad hominem attacks against Mr. Bowers are more than anything an indication that he has struck a chord. And it is a standard tactic used by the Left to discredit the messenger when they are unable to discredit the message. "by their fruits ye shall know them..."

What great entertainment! Hillary Clinton, the first female presidential candidate? Environmentalism relatively modest in 1992? Cohabitation would replace marriage. And the most entertaining of all, claiming that the U.S. has any morality! I can't wait for more revisionist entertainment.

AmericanGal, Mr Bowers remarks may or may not be factual. He didn't quote any actual people in his article, which makes it hard to verify his claims. Also, I find it strange that a graduate of Colorado Christian University attended a multi-day Communist Party USA meeting strictly out of curiosity as he claims to have done.

I must respectfully disagree with most of the comments so far. But, please don't call me horrible names or make false accusations against me. When did a public forum become a place for hateful, personal attacks? Curtis Bowers is of good moral values and character, is honest, a man of integrity, and a patriotic American - that is my personal experience, not wild speculation. If you disagree, that's OK, but that does not entitle you to attack and accuse him of doing exactly what you are doing: being hateful and bigoted. I am sorry you do not realize that Communism and the plan publically stated long before 1992 still impacts American society. I'm also sad that most of the comments so far reflect a lack of understanding or tolerance of someone whose viewpoint differs from yours, whose values you do not possess, and whose remarks are based on verifiable facts. BKW-Good, intelligent remarks! Others: How 'bout some research, respect & tolerance? Thanks, CBowers, for your right-on article!

Wow, i can hardly believe the hate directed against Mr. Bower. He is 100% correct. It sounds like the Liberal agenda is alive and well in Canyon County. How sad! This used to be a bastion of moral, civilized ideas and now it appears (I haven't given up hope) that it has gone to the DOGS.

If you don't agree with what Rep. Bowers has said or if you think perhaps there may be more important issues facing Canyon County and his time might be better spent working on them, tell him so. Go here and sign the petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/Bowers/petition.html

"Our first woman presidential candidate talks about how degrading it is to be a stay-at-home mom." She does? The woman is pretty very now, if not DEAD. Oh oops he really meant Hillary Clinton I guess. She isn't the first. Is this typical of the level of work we can get from Mr Bowers? His staff should vet every word he writes from this moment forward. If you cannot be bothered to be accurate there is no debate necessary.

Hey, I'll just repost my last contribution because I don't have to respond to anyone in good faith! Gee, bkw, try on the definition of bigot: "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinons and prejudices." No one here has said Bowers should be muzzled. He has a right to say pretty much just what he wants. So do the folks who are gobsmacked by his conspiratorial delusions. No intolerant "liberals" at all. No attempts to shut down any discussion. So why don't you actually respond to a conversation instead of repeating the same old, unresponsive, unchanging, charges. Know what? I think bkw is a liberal. Why? Liberal and liberty have the same origin, and bkw thinks everyone should have the individual liberty to speak their mind. Hear, hear! Now stop being intellectually lazy, repeating the same words, and have a conversation.

Wow! I'm stunned that all of the comments to this point have been against Mr. Bowers. There is no one so intolerant as the liberals who insist on tolerance from everyone else. These people try to shutdown any discussion that opposes their point of view but insist that others be tolerant of their views. Mr. Bowers reported his experiences and you call him a liar. If you have proof that what he wrote is factually inaccurate then prove it. If he is accurately telling what he experienced, he has a right to tell the story. It is funny to read comments from bigots calling someone else a bigot. Perhaps you should look in the mirror. It is also fascinating to see that the protest included a whopping 4 protestors and yet was frontpage news. The protestors signs read "Legislate against hate". Are we really getting to the point where you are willing to legislate away freedom of speech or try to force everyone to believe the same way?

Curtis Bowers has clearly demonstrated himself to be a bigot. He advocates intolerance under the logic of the paranoid fantasy that a "communist conspiracy" is the greatest danger that faces our society. This would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic. But really it is tragic because he is an "elected" representative--wait, not elected ... he was appointed by the Governor. He stands against the deepest American values: individual rights, equality of opportunity, freedom of thought. That a "libertarian" governor could have appointed him is incredible. No one has intolerantly argued here he shouldn't be able to speak his mind. Or that his views shouldn't be discussed. Ironically Bowers has done the public a real service. By exposing his bizarre, paranoid, divisive views he has allowed everyone to see how unfit he is for the office he has been appointed to. He's an embarrassment to Idaho. An embarrasment to the Republican party. Just go, Mr. Bowers, just go.

Mr. Bowers has made his bed. Now he will sleep in it. I hope that the people see that we cannot continue to allow this type of ignorance to represent us as a community. It is a good thing that he has exposed his true colors. Now it is time for us to insist upon his stepping down from his position.

I figure the more people respond to this info badly and immaturely, and hatefully, the more what he says if proved true. This is the NWO agenda, Masons, Illuminati, TriLateral Commission...and and it is all in Bible Prophecy, No US because we have caved in and let everything he says happen, by some standards we no longer exist, certainly not as a free nation, free for illegal immigrants, I have to pay taxes, and my insurance premiums, I don't get free meds, food, housing, utilities, and don't say that isn't going on cause it is...I PERSONALLY KNOW THIS, I HAVE ACQUAINTANCES who drink, smoke,do drugs, buy food for their kids with FSTAMPS, medicaid for medical needs, housing and util aid, they don't work and pay taxes....so get your heads out of your _____tv,dumbing down of America Indeed..IT WORKED AND ITS STILL WORKING...KIDOS MR BOWERS, WILL PRAY FOR YOU KEEP DEFENDING THE TRUTH. Hmm...Sounds like Mr. Bowers enjoys dressing up and hanging out in the San Francisco bay area. Makes me wonder what else he did on his trip(s) to that area. What was your real agenda, Mr. Bowers? Blaming minority groups for problems that face this country is pretty weak, Mr. Bowers. Blaming others is a "red herring" that draws attention away from the fact that YOU haven't done anything to improve life Canyon County, or Idaho. Why don't you just admit you don't have the brains, political or social skills to work with others in a cooperative effort to make Canyon County, Idaho and the USA a better place? This editorial is an embarrassment to Canyon County and Idaho.

I was sent this in an email by a friend. At first I thought this was some kind of joke. Was Curtis Bowers a real person and if so was he actually an Idaho Representative? The answer to both is yes- see for yourself: http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/house/membership.cfm . Then I thought, he couldn’t have actually written this but again, I followed the related link provided and sure enough it brought me here- he did. Curtis you make Bill Sali look like a genius. How could anyone vote for such a flaming idiot. Idaho is doomed if we elect individuals such as Curtis Bowers to public office.
SudoMaki - 6:33 PM, Thursday January 10, 2008
Mr. Bowers: Your experience sounds familiar. Let me think...Oh yes, it is very similar to an urban legend I received via an email chain letter, in which "communist rules for revolution" were said to have been discovered by "allied forces in Germany in 1919". Those “rules” were similar to the “plan” you “witnessed”. It's just amazing how that proven fallacy mimics your "actual experience". Hmmm.... Maybe you will have a better chance promoting your gossip, I mean, "actual experience", through an email chain letter. I bet you were there when Oliver North warned Congress about Osama bin Laden during the 1987 Iran-Contra hearings too...Weren't you? I hear the commies are endorsing Mike Huckabee this year. Let’s get that one started…Who’s in?

When I started my own business two years my wife was finishing her graduate degree and working, so that we could pay bills while the company got going. Today my business voluntarily follows European environmental regulations, which are stricter than the US regulations. By marketing our products as environmentally friendly we have increased sales, both foreign and domestic. We have also employed the services of an exceptionally talented (homosexual) graphics designer. I had always believed I was the typical American boy living the American Dream of taking an idea and turning it into a thriving business; of tolerance and equal opportunity, and of taking care of the land that God has given us. Apparently I was wrong, because according to you I am nothing but a communist drone... Please take your fascist rhetoric somewhere else; we don't need it in the beautiful state of Idaho. Newsflash, Mr. Bowers: It's the 21st century! Our country's mainstream (believe it or not) now thinks women should have the same opportunities as men, that the environment isn't something we should rape no matter the profit, and that two consenting adults can independently decide whether they love each other without the government getting involved. I have good news for you, though...the Saudi's are looking for some great representatives in their government. When your term is up, you can run for election in a country where your ideas ARE the mainstream!
