BOISE — Idaho's Public Charter School Commission has called a special meeting Monday to address Nampa Classical Academy's "use of religious texts," according to the Commission's meeting agenda.
The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Boise at the Len B. Johnson building.
The charter school's officials have said the school is not using religious texts in its classrooms. But the Charter Commission, which oversees the state's charter schools, has asked for information about religious texts at the school and about a seventh-grade assignment that could have religious implications. That information is due to the Charter Commission by 8 a.m. Monday.
NCA has taken the Charter Commission and state officials to court to reverse the Charter Commission's ban on the use of the Bible and other religious texts at the new charter school.
