CANYON COUNTY — John Bujak, Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney, will appoint Bob Sobba, retired chief of Caldwell Police Department, to be the Canyon County Truancy Court Coordinator.
Canyon County's truancy court has been operating since 2008, but with no official coordinator. Judge Jerry Lee, Canyon County magistrate chambered in Nampa, has volunteered his time and serves as the presiding judge. Forty-eight juveniles have been referred to the program since its inception from both the Caldwell and Vallivue school districts.
There are currently 25 juveniles who are participating in the program, with new juveniles being referred from both school districts.
Sobba is also a Caldwell city councilman and is a former director of Idaho State Police.
"Working closely with my office, the schools, law enforcement, juvenile probation and our juvenile justice court, [Sobba] will be able to continue this successful program with the mission that it be expanded to include the other school districts in Canyon County," Bujak said.
Bujak will formally announce Sobba's appointment at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Canyon County Courthouse.
