Boise crash kills 1, injures another on Chinden Boulevard

BOISE — A crash on Chinden Boulevard west of Eagle Road Monday afternoon killed one man and hospitalized another.

Preliminary information indicated Monday that just before 3 p.m. a pickup pulling a utility trailer appeared to have broadsided a passenger car turning left onto Chinden from Bennington Way. Officials said that the car may have pulled in front of the truck, and the investigation into the cause of the collision was continuing. No criminal charges have been filed.

The crash killed the male driver of the sedan. A male passenger in the car was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the pickup suffered no physical injuries.

The name of the man killed will be released by the Ada County Coroner after his family is notified. According to Boise Police policy, names of the other people involved will not be released, pending the ongoing investigation, or if a criminal charge is filed.

The crash caused long delays for motorists as traffic was rerouted around the accident scene.

Detectives are asking anyone who was driving in the area, witnessed the crash, and did not give a statement to an officer, to please call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
