ADA COUNTY — Two residents and an Ada County Sheriff's deputy were transported by ambulance to a hospital for smoke inhalation after a house fire broke outside Boise early this morning.
By the time Boise firefighters arrived shortly after 5:30 a.m., an Ada County Sheriff's deputy and a sergeant were administering CPR to an elderly woman. The woman, a male family member and the deputy were all sent to the hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.
Officials got word of the fire from a neighbor on the 5300 block of South Missoula Way, northeast of Maple Grove and Desert in Ada County. The neighbor advised fire dispatch that an elderly woman was believed to be in a rear bedroom of the home, and said that a male family member in his 30s had been able to escape.
When firefighters arrived, flames were already engulfing much of the garage and adjacent living space. Firefighters and emergency responders immediately took over CPR on the woman and were able to resuscitate her.
The condition of the woman, in her 80s, the male family member and the ACSO deputy are not known at this time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It's also unknown at this time if the home had working smoke alarms.
