BOISE — Two goals within a short span propelled the Nampa Bulldogs to their 2-1 victory against Columbia on Saturday at Bishop Kelly High School in the District-III 4A boys soccer tournament.

Nampa (9-5-1) will face Middleton (3-9-3) at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Columbia took a 1-0 lead when Carlos Carrion scored in the 9th minute, assisted by Oscar Perez. But then Tomas Briseno scored in the 16th minute, followed by Daniel Arce in the 17th minute for Nampa, which outshot Columbia 16-11.

Goalkeeper Corbin Wise made 14 saves for Columbia (4-10-1), which will face Mountain Home (9-5-1) at 5 p.m. Monday.

"We started the game really well, lots of pressure, good defense, attacking pretty good," Columbia coach Dan Riley said. "And then kind of our M.O. for the season: We relaxed."

Middleton 4, Mountain Home 1 (Shootout)

BOISE — Tied after double overtime, Middleton players Kelby Sommer, Robert Bouiver and Travis Eggers each scored on penalty kicks to lift Middleton  (3-9-3) into the next round against Nampa (9-5-1) at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bishop Kelly High.

Jared Scott scored in the 15th minute for Middleton, Mountain Home's goal was scored by Ben Cumber in the 56th minute, assisted by Raif Armstrong.

"We actually had a goal called back on us," said Mountain Home coach Paul Walsh, whose team (9-5-1) will play Columbia (4-10-1) at 5 p.m. Monday in the third-place bracket.  "We just didn't get the breaks."

Middleton coach Larren Weber credited the play of center  defenseman Josh Hodges.

"It was exciting to see," Weber said. "The boys had a great defensive effort."

Skyview 6, Kuna 0

BOISE — Five different Skyview Hawks scored goals in a 6-0 win over the Kuna Kavemen to open District III-4A boys soccer play.

Omar Lopez had two goals and two assists for the Hawks (15-1). Jason Vasquez, Jose Sanchez, Stephen Davidson and Kendrick Korth also notched goals in the win. Alex Bunn had 15 saves in the loss for Kuna (2-12-1).

Bishop Kelly 3, Emmett 0

Pat Tunison had two goals and Kyle Wollison scored one goal and had one assist to lead No. 4-seed Bishop Kelly to the shutout victory over Emmett in the first round of the 4A District Three tournament at Bishop Kelly High.

With the win, the Knights (7-5-3) advanced to the district semifinals and will play top-seed Skyview (15-0) on Tuesday at Bishop Kelly. The winner earns a spot in the district title game and a berth to the state tournament.

Emmett (6-7-2) plays Kuna (1-13-1) on Monday.

District III-5A Tournament

At Centennial High School

Centennial 3, Capital 1

MERIDIAN — Andre Lawyer scored three goals, Aaron Kochman had two assists, Murphy Olmstead one assist for Centennial (9-1-1 5A SIC), which will face Boise (9-1-1 5A SIC) at 5 p.m. Monday at Centennial High School.

Ryan Becker scored on an assist from Zach Gonzales and goalkeeper Abid Omerovic made nine saves for Capital (5-5-2 5A SIC), which will face Caldwell (6-6) at 3 p.m. Monday at Centennial High.

Boise 6, Caldwell 0

BOISE — Connor Meppen had two goals and one assist, Johnny Soumie two goals as Boise (9-1-1) advanced into the next round, where it will face Centennial (9-1-1) at 5 p.m. Monday at Centennial High.

Caldwell (6-6) will face Capital (5-5-2) at 3 p.m. Monday in the third-place bracket.

Also leading Boise was John DiLulo (goal, assist) and Graham Reid (goal), while Will Harper, Colin Cain and Tyler Stanley added an assist each.

"It should be a tough matchup," said Boise coach Mike Darrow, whose Braves split their two matches against the Patriots this season. "The winner is into state for sure, so obviously it's a big deal."

Girls

District III-5A tournament

At Timberline High School

Mountain View 4, Capital 0  

BOISE — Rachel Powell had two goals and an assist, and Shalese Miller and Kellynn McDaniel also scored for Mountain View (10-0-1).

Goalkeeper Megan Ray made nine saves for Capital (4-6-2 5A SIC).

District III-4A tournament

At Skyview High School

Kuna 2, Columbia 0

NAMPA —Jessica Higer and Summer Lowe each scored, and Ayla Johnson and Tailyr Purbeck each added an assist for Kuna (12-3-2), which advances into the next around against Skyview (12-2-1) for a 4 p.m. Tuesday match.

Columbia (4-10-1) will face Nampa (2-12-1) at 6 p.m. Monday.

"We're happy with the win," Dena Walker said. "We're looking forward to playing Skyview."

Skyview 10, Nampa 0

NAMPA — Peyton Moon scored three goals and added one assist, while Lacey Strickler and Lindsey Washburn each also scored two goals as the Skyview girls soccer team beat Nampa 10-0 in the District III-4A quarterfinals on Saturday.

Skyview (12-2-1) will face Kuna (12-3-2) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.  

Nampa (2-12-1) will face Columbia (4-10-1) at 6 p.m. Monday.

Sarah Smith had three assists for the Hawks and picked up her first goal of the season making it so that every player on the Skyview roster has at least one goal on the year. Brittany Washburn and Kylie Stucki each also had a goal.

Caitlyn Johnson picked up a shutout in net for Skyview, making four saves.

Bishop Kelly 8, Emmett 0

Six different players scored goals as Bishop Kelly's girls soccer team defeated Emmett 8-0 in the first round of the 4A District three girls soccer tournament at Skyview High.

Tamara Snow led the top-seeded Knights (17-0) with two goals.

Bishop Kelly plays Middleton at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Emmett plays Mountain Home at 4 p.m. Monday.

Middleton 3, Mtn. Home 1

NAMPA — The Middleton Vikings moved on to the semifinals of the District III-4A girls soccer tournament with a 3-1 win over the Mountain Home Tigers at Skyview High School.

Cheyenne Hunsaker, Bonnie Moore and Aliesha Field had goals for Middleton (6-7-4). Field and Annie Fuller each had assists. Lauren Moore had the lone goal for Mountain Home.

Middleton plays Bishop Kelly at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Mountain Home plays Emmett at 4 p.m. Monday.

Nampa 41, Kuna 9

NAMPA — Mahonri Bostrom added to his 4A SIC-leading rushing yardage, racking up 156 yards on 17 carries for two touchdowns at Nampa High School on Friday night.

Josh Seward opened the Nampa (3-1 4A SIC, 4-2) scoring with a 95-yard kickoff return TD, and Ruben Martinez returned a first-quarter fumble 53 yards for a score.

Nampa quarterback Hayden Wright, who rushed for 83 yards on six carries, accounted for two touchdowns — a 15-yard pass to Daylan Lake in the second quarter, and a 33-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.

Austin Howland led Kuna (1-3 4A SIC, 1-5) in rushing (13 carries, 61 yards) and receiving (four catches, 44 yards). Cole Vanantwerp (four catches, 30 yards) caught a 2-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Stanley (12-of-24, 115 yards).

Skyview 27, Emmett 21

EMMETT — Skyview quarterback Sam Cook and receiver Luke Austin connected for two touchdowns and the Hawks upended Emmett on Friday night at Emmett High School.

Cook was 22-of-40 for 293 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions. Austin caught 12 passes for 114 yards, Travis Gropp three for 55 yards, and Greg Krahenbuhl two for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Emmett quarterback Gary Posten was 23-of-38 for 188 yards, one interception and one touchdown, which was caught by Nathan Lowmiller (four catches, 91 yards). Posten (10 rushes, 43 yards) also scored on a 4-yard run.

Cory Holm caught 10 passes for 40 yards for Emmett.
