NAMPA — Andy Maxwell has played for two Treasure Valley basketball teams. On Monday he joined his third.
Maxwell, a 2007 graduate of Skyview High School and former player at the College of Idaho signed his commitment letter to play for the Crusaders, one of four players to sign such letters for coach Tim Hills Monday.
After a high school career which included the 2005 4A State Championship his sophomore year and a second team 4A All-SIC selection his senior year, Maxwell played his freshman year at the College of Idaho before transferring to Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash. As a sophomore he averaged 11 points and eight rebounds per game for the Hawks.
Maxwell will redshirt this season, assistant coach Brandon Rinta said in a release.
"Being a taller guard that can shoot and rebound it well, he should help us out in the years to come," Rinta said.
Other players to sign for the Crusaders were Brandon Blair, of Salem Ore., Zac Kinman, a transfer from the California Maritime Academy, and Logan Parker of Jerome.
Parker averaged 16.7 points for Jerome High School this season, leading the Tigers to a 24-3 record and a third place finish at the 4A State Tournament. He was named the Great Basin Conference player of the year and named to a first-team 4A All-State selection.
Blair played this past season at Sprague High School in Salem, Ore., where he averaged 18 points per game, was named the 6A Central Valley Conference player of the year and led his team to a second-place finish in the Central Valley Conference.
Kinman played high school ball for Oroville High School in Oroville, Wash., averaging 25 points per game his senior season. He played one season for California Maritime in Vallejo, Calif., where he was named the California Pacific League freshman of the year.
