Ladies golf lists recent winners
CALDWELL —Caldwell Ladies' Golf Association recently held a match at Fairview Golf Course. Winners are Dona Wood, Janice Talbot, Shirley Humphrey and Lil Anderson for the morning; play of the day on May 19 was guess your score. Terri Kelley was the winner in the evening group for guess your score. Purple Sage winners for the play of the day of low putts for May 21 morning were Jackie Inglis, Debbie McPherson, Gretchen McGee, Janice Talbot and Terri Kawahara. Evening winners were Nancy Garrett and Glenda Scroggins in blind draw.
ABWA plans BBQ, music June 11
NAMPA — Nampa Charter Chapter of American Business Women's Association May 26, for its monthly meeting at Le Baron's Honker Cafe. Final plans were made for the chapter's Bluegrass and Barbecue 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Lakeview Park bandshell and picnic area. The menu, provided by the Job Corps Culinary Arts students, will consist of pulled pork, potato and macaroni salad, baked beans, roll, dessert and drinks. Bluegrass music will be provided by High Desert. A raffle will be held for assorted items including a knitted afghan, a BSU basket consisting of various BSU items, Andrews Garden Treasures Basket containing soaps and scrubs and a Mary Kay Basket of products. Cost for the evening is $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. This will be a fun event for the entire family.
Three young women in the Nampa area were presented with $1,000 scholarships each. Dulce Chavez graduated from Nampa High School last year and is a freshman at BSU and will be a sophomore this coming fall. She works at Idaho Credit Union and is majoring in international business. Kaylee Wangelin graduated from Skyview High School this year and will attend BSU in the fall majoring in predental with the goal of becoming an orthodontist. Melissa Barrera is a graduate of Vallivue High School and plans to attend the University of Idaho seeking a dance major. Her plans are to one day own her own dance studio.
Elections were held for officers for the coming year. Elected were Charlie Stephens, president; Dorothy Johnson, vice president; Gladys Clymens, secretary; and Jewel Lake, treasurer. The new officers will be installed at the July meeting.
The chapter's next meeting will be the annual family picnic, which will be held at the home of Judy Hayes at 6 p.m. June 23.
Officer installation slated June 8
CALDWELL — All American Legion Post #35 members are reminded of the 8 p.m. June 8. meeting. Installation of new officers for the coming year will take place. There will be no meetings in July and August. The District 3 picnic will be in July at the park in Marsing. Give your support to the new Commander Gary White and his new staff.
Boise state of city address June 3
BOISE — The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce hosts the Boise Mayor's State of the City address Tuesday at the Boise Centre on the Grove. Mayor David H. Bieter will give the address to the business community at a breakfast event from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Mayor Bieter will review the previous year's accomplishments and give Chamber members and guests a preview of what's next for the City of Boise.
Tickets are available at www.boisechamber.org and are $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers through May 31. Beginning June 1, the cost is $45/$55. There is also a $20 program-only (no breakfast) ticket option that includes coffee service and allows those attendees to arrive at 8 a.m. for the program only. Kiwanis group elects officers
NAMPA — New officers were elected for 2010 for the Kiwanis Club of the Treasure Valley. They are President Marc Mitchell, First Mortgage Company of Idaho; President- Elect Jeff Erikson, Edward Jones; Secretary Sammy Rickelman, KTVB; Treasurer Robbi Blessin, CPA; Board members Rita Anderson, Amy Woodruff, Civil Dynamics, David Ferdinand, Canyon County Commission, Peggy Hubbell, Treasure Valley Transit. Installation of the new officers will take place in September.

Soroptimist group announces board
BOISE — Soroptimist International Of Boise announces its 2009-20010 board of directors. They are President Lena Hall, President Elect Melonie Wilson, Vice-President Julie Marcum-Hart, Recording Secretary Shirley Biadeau, Corresponding Secretary Cindy Fosella, Treasurer Brittany Johnson, Directors Susan Kelley and Helen Ubic and Delegate Marian Warren.
The new officers will be take office Thursday, June 18, at the Doubletree Riverside, 2900 Chinden Blvd. The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited but reservations need to be called in by Monday, June 8.

Boise hosts speaker series
BOISE — "Treasures: Bringing History to Life with Resources from the Archives," is presented by Kathy Hodges, oral historian with the Idaho State Historical Society, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. She will talk about the surprising material housed at Idaho's Public Archives and Research Library. Hodges will explain how information from interview transcripts, court cases, prison records and other unusual sources can illuminate Idaho's story. Expect her to play audio clips and lead a lively discussion. Come at 6 to browse the books at Rediscovered Bookshop, 7079 Overland Road. This event is free and open to everyone.
Picnic scheduled June 6 in Nampa
NAMPA — The 16th Armour Old Timer Picnic is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Lions Park. This includes those that may have worked at King's Pack, Safeway, Armour and ConAgra and their spouses. Bring a dish to share, table service and your drink. If you are doing anything that is occupying your time (art work, carvings, collections, antique car, etc.) bring it for show and tell. Pictures of the grandkids are welcome.
