Crane will not run for Congress

NAMPA - Nampa resident and Idaho Treasurer Ron Crane has decided against running for Walt Minnick's 1st District U.S. Congressional seat in 2010.

Crane, a Republican, told the Idaho Press-Tribune Friday he had made the decision not to run.

"I seriously explored it," Crane said. "I have come to the conclusion not to run."

Crane, 60, has been the state's Treasurer since 1998. His son Brent is a Idaho representative from Nampa.

“Mr. Minnick is a DINO. He is a conservative and represents the State of Idaho well and our conservative view of government. If you followed Watergate you will also understand he is a man of principle and quit the Nixon Whitehouse over the firing of the Watergate Special Prosecutor. I am proud to support a man of Mr. Minnick's caliber.
